We live in a world filled with too much noise. The distracting noise of the happenings of the world. Today we hear of a trouble arising from one country, tomorrow we hear of mass killings of people by some miscreants and violent men. At other time we hear of wars and rumours of wars. There is also the noise of the fads and facades, the pomp and show of entertainment and the glitz of riches. Humanity is faced with the sad reality of much noise and no silence.

Had it been that the noise were channeling us to something better, it would have been acceptable. It is rather unfortunate that it draws us away from the real deal. Asides the external noise, man is also plagued with the noise from within him. The noise of worry, fear and anxiety. The noise of the many burdens we have to bear.

This distracting noise has stripped us of one key thing. The major thing that ought to guide our paths and direct our steps. The important thing that ought to keep us in calmness despite the boisterousness all around. One indispensable thing that gives a life time assurance. His voice.

Our ears have been deafened by the noise, and we have shut out His voice. His voice is what keeps any man going; that still small voice that says: “this is the way to go, walk ye in it.” Our ears have become so accustomed to the noise around and they are not inclined to hear the ever saving voice. I must confess, life without His voice is vague.

Despite, the deafening noise all around, there is a promise for as many who are willing to incline their ears to His voice. He has promised to keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. (Isaiah 26:3). The world has lost her peace because her mind is not stayed on Him, and it is only those who are in a state of inward tranquility that can hear His voice.

There are many who desire to hear His voice, but the turbulence within and the disturbance without have drowned His voice. Many that hear Him at all barely hear Him because His voice is very faint to their ears. The antidote to this misnomer is to make our soul be still before Him. There is the blessedness of quietness, and O that we possess the blessing of quieting our soul and pushing out the straying noise, that we may hear His voice in accents clear and still. Your prayer should be “O that my sou be still in your presence

This voice that guides, gives peace with a lasting assurance is the voice of CHRIST. Wait on Him, hear His voice.

Holla, people. It’s another empowering article you’re about to peruse after a long time. Stay tuned and do have a good read.

Alert! You’d have to pardon me ahead, because this post is going to be laced with some legal connotations. However, I’ll give ample explanations so as not to get you off track.
Are you ready?

A trustee is one who has been conferred legally with property in trust for the purpose of a beneficiary. A trust is a legal relationship between the owner, a trustee and a beneficiary.
Before I delve into the meat of the post, I’ll do a simple illustration for better understanding.

A owns a property, and he transfers it to B, who is the trustee to keep it in trust for C, who is the beneficiary of A’s property. Hope I’ve not bored you with some legal jargons, and you’ve learnt some basic legal stuffs.

Forging ahead, believers on earth are God’s trustees. Ask me how! In our possession are some resources given to us by God whom we know is the Owner of all things we think we possess. We are His trustees in the sense that we are the ones God has given some resources to, to keep in trust for the beneficiary. Need I tell you that the trustee becomes the legal owner of the property after the property has been transfered to him, and he can deal with the property as he wills, though he will be in breach of trust?

The gifts that we have, the wealth we possess, the talents we display are not solely for the purpose of us using them as we desire, but using them for the benefit of the beneficiary.
God keeps those things in our care because He knows that in our midst are those that would have need; they are the beneficiaries.

A biblical injunction on this is seen in Deuteronomy 15:11: “For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.”

The wealth that we control is not ours to squander or use as a tool of oppression, rather, we are to view it as a trust property committed into our hands for the benefit of a beneficiary. If we carry out thorough investigations, we’ll realise that there are many who are in need in our neighbourhood. We are to seize every opportunity we have to improve the life of someone, with the wealth vested in our care.

That spectacular talent we possess that is lacking in those around us is meant for the purpose of empowerment, and not for disdain or pride. The gift of salvation, and the message thereof is not for us to hoard. It is for us to give to those who haven’t gotten the opportunity of having it.

At the end of life, hope we won’t be found to be in breach of trust when we’re called to give account of how we dealt with the trust property kept in our care.

Do well to share your thoughts with me in the comment section. Also, share with your friends.

The purpose of your life is to discover your gift, the work of life is to develop it, and the meaning of life is to give it away Joy J. Golliver

One thing common to everybody is purpose, but one thing that differentiates a person from another is discovering and developing it. It is rather unfortunate that many people pass through life without fulfilling purpose, they wait for life to happen, dancing and tossing to any direction life takes them.

As Myles Munroe said “if the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. Not knowing the purpose of your life implies that the abuse of your life is inevitable. A life without purpose is the greatest tragedy, it is worse than death.

In finding purpose, we are often told to look within to discover that unique that distinguishes us from others. Though this is not all together wrong, one thing we should know is that finding purpose first starts with finding God: He created us and knows exactly why He did so, hence He alone can make us know our purpose.

Once we discover what purpose what next? Do we just sit back folding our arms without developing and fulfilling it? Definitely no. We need to work at it, stretch yourself, do everything in your power to fulfill purpose. Not fulfilling purpose is as good as not knowing purpose, which invariably means a wasted life.

Now that you’ve discovered purpose, and you begin working to fulfill purpose, what then are the benefits, or more still, the power in finding purpose?

Purpose makes us live focused lives. We do not have to be tossed about by whatever life throws at us. A life that lacks focus is like a flag that dances towards the direction of the wind, because it in itself lacks direction.

A life of purpose is a balanced life. The bad side of not knowing purpose in life is that we can thrown off guard when the challenges of life arise. When we are well equipped with the knowledge of our purpose in life, we are able to find our feet in the midst of the storms of life. Peradventure we are almost veering off track, our purpose makes it easy for us to come back on track.

Knowing your purpose gives satisfaction and fulfillment. Fulfilling purpose should not burdensome because it is merely an extension of us. Even in the midst of storms, purpose is the fuel that keeps you going, you become unstoppable because of the satisfaction you get from doing what you love to do. Also, purpose helps you forge ahead when life wants to keep you stuck in a position. The kind of life you live when you know your purpose is an effortless one, ‘cos what others are struggling to do, you do with ease.

Purpose gives you the strength to forge ahead despite the obstacles on the road.
it fires you up when the chips are down and it is also a crucial step to self development.

On a final note, know yourself; know your passion; evaluate the tasks that you find most empowering; deliberately look out for your greatest challenges, and how you’ve been able to overcome; and dig out your God-given gift, your natural abilities.

One last thing, have it at the back of your mind that you cannot discover your purpose outside God, seek Him and let Him reveal it to you.

I will appreciate your comments as well as your help in spreading the word.

When someone gives you a blank cheque, how do you feel? Elated right?

It happened one day that I needed money, and I asked my mum. Her response was “how much do you want?” That’s a sort of blank cheque right? In a bid not too ask for too much, I mentioned a modest amount, and lo! I got exactly what I asked. I began to wish I asked for more, perhaps I would have gotten it.

Now, let’s bring this down to our relationship with God. First there has to be an existing relationship, because as it is rare to get a blank cheque from a stranger, it is impossible to get a blank cheque from God if you are a stranger to him.

As children of God, Christ hands over to us a blank cheque when He said “and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Nothing is as blank as this, where we are afforded the opportunity of asking whatsoever it is we desire. Provided what we ask is the will of God, we are sure to have it.

One mistake most of us make is that in our asking, we go beating around the bush, asking for vague things. When God says what do you want, you begin to ramble saying “anything, something, or everything.” In all these, you have succeeded in making no request, hence, expect no answer.

Many times, we often shortchange ourselves thinking if we ask for too much, God is not capable of giving us. Can you imagine! If God has freely given us His most precious treasure- Jesus, what makes you feel your request is too much for Him to grant. We often shoot ourselves in the leg when we ask for too little, when we have the benefit of asking for as much as we want.

My dear, when next you want to make your request, ask for all that you want, in accordance with the will of God, provided you are not desiring to consume it on your lust, and God would freely give you all things. You get what you ask for and even more because God is willing to give us exceedingly abundantly more than we ask or think.

If you have no relationship, it is not too late to establish one. Simply ask Jesus into your life and believe He will save you.

NB: The promises of God are not without conditions. Are you ready to do the ‘if’ in the promise?

Have you ever been in a situation where it seems the heavens have been shut against you, God seems nowhere to be found. You’ve searched your heart to see whether there be any sin, and you’ve even prayed for a purging, but it seems God is silent.

Many tears have dropped from your tear glands, you’ve made fervent prayers, yet you do not seem to feel God’s presence. Then, you begin to wonder what has gone wrong, it is as if you can no longer hold the forth, your faith begins to feign, and the pressure is overwhelming, and you begin to ponder in your heart, wondering if God has abandoned you.

Well! I’m pleased to inform you that you are not alone. Time and time again have had such experiences, and even passing through it at the moment. There are examples of people in the Bible who have gone through this same experience.

Using David and Job as case studies, let us here what they have to say. David said “Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1). Lest we forget, David was a man whom God regarded as a man after His own heart.

Taking a look at Job, a man whom God could boldly declare to be an upright man said “Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job 23: 8-12).

These people who were greatly esteemed by God had times when it seemed God was far away from them, yet they kept following after him. Also, taking a look at the time and ministry of Jesus, when He was about to face the cross, He declared “my God my God, why hast thou forsaken me.”

On a final note, a song writer has this to say for situations as this “Lord you seem so far away, a million miles or more it feels today. Though I haven’t lost my faith, I must confess right now that it is hard for me to pray. But I don’t know what to say, and I don’t know where to start, but as you give the grace, with all that is in my heart, I will sing, I will pray, even in the darkest hour, in the sorrow and the pain…”

This song has been an inspiration to me personally. Remember! When the test is going on , the teacher is always there, but he is always silent. Hold on, put your trust in God, for very soon you will work out of that dark hour, and you will begin to feel His presence anew.

God bless you.

The sun is glorious in one way, the moon is glorious in another way, and the stars are glorious in their own [distinctive] way; for one star differs from and surpasses another in its beauty and brilliance. 1Cor. 15:41 .

I always compared myself with people around me, which made me feel either inferior or proud depending on how I saw those surrounding me, and neither of these feelings are healthy for an individual, because inferiority makes one incapable while pride comes before destruction, not good for a person’s growth and development…

At times I look at peoples accomplishments and feel like I’m doing nothing, but the truth is that we are all different in our own ways, if God could create the uncountable stars in the sky differently with their own glory, then imagine how he would have made each one of us, fearfully and wonderfully made…

Its indeed good to challenge ourselves and be a better version but we shouldn’t kill ourselves with worry on why we are not like person A or B, our paths differ, our destiny are not the same, God has a plan for each and everyone of us, the important thing now is to know God.

On understanding this, and realising that knowing Christ is the essential thing, it is helping me discover my identity in Christ and God is moulding me and making me fit perfectly into the peaceful and good plans he has for my life, and of this I’m very grateful.

I realised it’s not about comparing and contrasting our lives with others but it is about knowing the ONE who makes all the difference and that is God. He would surely lead us and guide us, if only we come to Him and surrender our all and hold on our lives to Him.

Christ makes the difference.

In 2011, I graduated from secondary school as an average student, with little knowledge of what the future holds. Getting my O level result was very challenging. In 2011 alone, I wrote 3 O level exams (WAEC, NECO, NECO-GCE), but wasn’t able to get my 5 credits in any of them.

In 2012, I enrolled for another WAEC, luckily, I got all my 5 credits. That same year, I wrote JAMB, and POST UTME, and I gained admission to the department of my choice. Today, I am one of the best student the department produced for 2016/2017 session, from University of Lagos.

One lesson I learnt from the challenge I passed through is that you should always put your trust in God, for one’s strength will fail.

After God, hardwork and persistence are the keys to good success. Always focus on your goal, don’t be distracted by the present failure, the future is bright.

Ajani John O.

You may be passing through academic challenges, and it seems as if nothing is working out for you; you’ve studied hard, prayed hard, done everything humanly speaking, yet it seems as if the story has not changed. Perhaps you are almost giving up and you want to do things your own way. My admonition for you is that you hold on, keep trusting God even if it is not easy and keep working at your goal. It would surely end in praise, for He makes everything beautiful in His own time.

Don’t give up, keep focused.

The dictionary makes us understand identity to mean ‘ a sense of who one is ‘ , with a synonym of ‘selfhood’.

In the quest for self-actualization, certain soul searching questions, such as
Who am I?

Where do I belong?

What is my purpose?

Where am I heading?,

amongst others are often pondered upon.

In a bid to get these questions answered, many have done unthinkable things, as well as commit nefarious acts. Many teenagers have been swayed by the craze of the world, in a bid to feel among. Both young and old have lost their bearing ‘cos they got swept off by the raging current of the world.

The social media has done more harm than good with regard to this area. Many are carried away by the mirage being displayed and feel everything on the cyber space is reality, whereas it is mostly fiction.

My friend, let’s go on a journey to answer these questions.

Who am I? My dear, you are who God says you are. Who has he declared you to be? ‘…a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…’ (1Peter2:9). What more do you desire?

Where do I belong? Friend! Christ made this known ‘ …ye are not of this world, but I have chosen you out of the world…'( John 15:9). You can’t afford to behave of this world.

What is my purpose? This is clear. ‘…that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. ‘ (1 Peter 2:9). For what other purpose do you think you were created?

Where am I heading? ‘ for here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come. ‘( Hebrews 13:14). Christ made our destination known – ‘…that where I am, there ye may be also. ‘ ( John 14:3).

Friend! Listen to this ‘ you can only find yourself when you find CHRIST. Your identity is in Him. ‘

Yippie! It is a new month, and we have every reason to thank God for how far He has helped us, even up to the penultimate month of the year. His mercies are indeed new every morning, and I am a partaker of His mercies and I’m doubly sure that you are also a partaker, if not you won’t be able to read this post.

Before I proceed, I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to my Father who has brought me this far despite all the hitches, rough and tumble of the year. He indeed has been faithful, and He will be forever faithful. So join me and sing ‘thank you Jesus for everything you have done’, because I know He is your Father too.

Hey you! yes you! when was the last time you appreciated God for the air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink, and most especially for the gift of His Son. All these things are given to us freely,without we having to pay a dime, yet many people are in the habit of always murmuring for whatever reason they choose to.

It is possible you’ve prayed, and it seems the answer has been delayed, it may seem to you that God has ‘forsaken’ you and you are just on your own. You may feel God has not done anything spectacular or much for you, hence you want to justify your many murmurings and grumblings against God.

Rather than thank God, many people question the unquestionable God for the things in His magnificent wisdom is yet to do or still doing.

If we think deep, and cast our mind back to the many things that should have happened to you but did not, the times you should have been so broke, yet God miraculously provide your needs, you would learn to say ‘thank you Jesus’. A popular hymn says ‘count your blessings name them one by one, count your blessings see what God has done,count your blessings name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done’.

Let us this day count our blessings one by one and appreciate Him for the things He has done, while still praying rather than grumbling for the those you think He is yet to do.

As we begin this new month, it will be good if we have a change of attitude, and start thanking and praising God for the many things He has done all through the year, and all through our lives.

Remember, if you don’t appreciate God, it does not change him from being God, and He will not force you to thank Him.

Those that grumble and murmur are on the losing side, while those that appreciate God move His hands to do greater things, and they are part of the winning team.

Would you have a change of heart today?

I stand in awe of God’s creation;

Mother nature, how beautiful, how cool;

Its magnificent splendour never ceases to dazzle me;

It’s great to take an adventure into nature.

The birds of the air sing of God’s majesty;

The trees never cease to dance in worship to God;

The stars in the sky teach us to shine forth;

And the moon ever smiling at God’s artwork.

The sun that rises and sets speaks of order;

The hills and mountain show forth variety;

The waves of the sea, o! how splendid;

Autumn, spring and winter, is all of God’s doing.

Nature speaks of God’s wonder;

Nature teaches of divine order;

Nature shows forth God’s splendour ;

Let us all appreciate nature and its creator.
